Hotel Olio is located on the warmer west coast of La Palma and therefore enjoys spring like weather all year. We are in the village of El Paso so are walking distance to shops, restaurants and bars. We are also only a short drive to the beach and close to many walking and hiking trails. The the airport is also close and only around 30 minutes away.
Activities La Palma
The island of La Palma offers a wealth of sightseeing and wonderful walking opportunities. La Palma is the steepest island in the world and has breathtaking scenery. Due to its diverse and varied scenery, in 2002 La Palma was declared a unique Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
Walking and Hiking La Palma
Hotel OLIO is situated close to the Caldera National Park and therefore on the doorstep of where many walks begin. La Palma offers an array of wonderful walking due to the network of well kept hiking paths stretching 1000 km.
Beaches in La Palma
There are several beaches within 15 minutes drive of Hotel Olio so you are never far from all year round swimming. Playa Puerto Tazacorte, Playa Puerto Naos and Charcol Verde all offer soft sand and clear water. In addition, there are many other remote beaches on La Palma which we can help you find if you fancy more of an adventure!
History and sights – Santa Cruz, the island’s historic capital, is just 25 minutes drive. The town was once one of the most important ports in the Spanish empire. Santa Cruz has ancient cobbled streets and beautiful houses with traditional balconies. There are many boutiques to shop in or you can enjoy a coffee in one of many street cafes.
Water activities – 15 minutes drive away is Puerto Tazacorte where you can enjoy boat cruises and fishing trips. A boat trip along the coast towards the north of the island takes you to the old pirates’ hideout “Cueva Candelaria”, and the beautiful and remove beach Playa La Veta.
Weather in La Palma
La Palma weather is varied because of its ranging altitude. The peak summer months are normally hot and dry and offer plenty of sunshine. The winter months are normally still warm but the weather may be cooler, especially at higher altitudes.
